Unlike a lot of recent open betas, the Battlefield 1 beta was announced and launched without a clear end-date. Rather than give a hard date from the get-go, EA and DICE just let people play without any sort of sense of when it would be over.
Finally, today the developer announced the finish line on Twitter:
That's a generous amount of time for a beta. A full nine days for the open beta, plus early access for many players beforehand.
Starting today, EA will be running the beta under "extreme launch" conditions---a stress test, basically, to give the publisher a sense of what day-one will be like and prepare accordingly.
The beta has also been updated to remove match timers, making each showdown a race to 300 rather than a race against the clock. There's still no ticket bleed---something many players are clamoring for---but the new system still works pretty well.
Battlefield 1 launches on October 21st on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
